STATE OF DECAY 3 SOUND REDESIGN
This redesign was lots of fun to work on and offered a great opportunity to practice some ambient design and mix that with some louder moments to create suspense. I aimed to create an immersive world with a feeling of the character being alone while often being in danger. The ambient tracks really add to this feeling and I think they reflect the cold landscape well. There was also some cool creature sound design to be done, with the mutant-deer being the final shot in the trailer. I used lots of different layers for this including some seals/walruses as well as some human screams and even some scraping sounds. My aim was to create something that is terrifying, yet still maintains that idea of it once being a normal animal, especially one as gentle as a deer. Unfortunately, because of COVID I was unable find someone to record the main characters vocalisations so I had to create them myself which turned out better than I thought.
