Metro Exodus Sound Redesign
I've just finished my redesign of the Metro Exodus: Artyom's Nightmare cinematic. This is definitely one of the longer redesigns I've ever done at just over 4 minutes, 125 tracks and over 1000 clips, and I've been working on it for about a month now. This trailer offered a great opportunity to practice a ton of different sound design skills from more subtle Foley work to louder cinematic moments with monster design and gun fights. It was also a great opportunity to work on my mixing skills and I really worked hard to keep the dynamics of the trailer to make the busier moments seem more intense. I was particularly happy with the Foley work on this one and I think it really helps sell the grittiness of the setting. I ended up relying more heavily on sound libraries then I had hoped to due to Covid restrictions meaning I couldn't go anywhere for the full time I was working on the redesign but I was still able to record a bunch of cool stuff around the house.
The amount of time I've spent on this one means I'm slightly relieved to be moving on to something else now but I'd be very interested to come back to this in 6 months to see what still like vs what I would change.
