Warframe - Caliber Chicks 2

Digital Extremes, Sumo Digital

I was the sole sound designer with the team at Sumo Digital tasked to create a run & gun, "neo-geo era" arcade minigame for Warframe's 1999 content update.

​

I was responsible for creating sfx that were appropriate to the intended era and genre. This consisted of weapon design, destruction sfx, environment spots, boss fight sfx, UI sounds, cinematics and more.

I also took ownership of implementing these assets into Digital Extreme's own engine using the audio tools available as well as our own Lua scripts.

The engine was not exactly designed to make this kind of game, meaning we often had to think outside of the box and get creative.

We were also unable to use certain features, for example their dynamic music system. For this reason we created our own music manager in Lua which we used to track what music was playing and defined when it could change.

​

We were also working in a live service game environment, meaning we had to take extra care in managing our systems and assets while ensuring that they would fit seamlessly into Warframe.

This project was a lot of fun and it was a great experience to work on such a beloved title. Digital Extremes were a pleasure to work with and establishing the minigame's audio direction alongside the team at Sumo Digital was very rewarding.
